Going on Vacation...Without the Kids!!!

I absolutely love my little boys so much! They crack me up! I won't be surprised if Tobin ends up being in debate when he is older because that kid has an argument and reason for EVERYTHING! Yesterday he was trying to convince me that he deserved a Father's Day because he is Father. My niece and nephew are apparently his "kids". The conversation was hilarious! Tonight he had his preschool program and it was the cutest thing ever! I was shocked that he actually had a solo and a line in the play. I had no idea and he didn't mess up at all and did great!

Noah is my little goofball who loves to make everyone laugh! Just seeing his smile, you can't help but smile! He is very mischievous and a handful, but so much fun and so dang cute!

As much as I love these 2 little guys, I definitely need a break. My husband and I have been married for 8 1/2 years. Since Tobin was born, we have only gone on ONE overnight. That was last year around this same time for my husband's birthday and was for just one night. That's one time in almost 5 years!!! This year, my husband wanted to go away for a few days as well, but instead of just one night we will be gone for 5 days and 4 nights! I'm so excited and a little nervous about leaving my kids for so long...but we definitely need this! I really need the time to spend with just my husband and reconnect with him. My husband is spontaneous and not a planner...and he changes his mind a lot! This trip has been re-planned so many times, but it is finally set in stone since last night we finally made reservations. We are headed to California! First stop is the Redwood National Forest for a few days and then we'll head down to San Francisco! I am so excited! I think this will be exactly what we all need...my boys probably need a bit of a break from me too! They get to have their aunt and soon-to-be uncle spoil them rotten and give in to their every whim. Every kid needs that every once in awhile!

So you will notice a lack of posts until next week. I am not bringing my laptop because I want to spend some real quality time with my husband and no distractions! I am hoping to take some pics and will share those with you next week. If any of you have been to these locations before and have some suggestions of things we definitely need to do or check out, leave a comment below!

My Review
Do you remember Fraggle Rock? My husband and I were 80's babies so we grew up with Fraggle Rock and remember them fondly. My husband says that the theme song of Fraggle Rock brings back fond memories of his childhood. I was so excited when we were sent the Fraggle Rock: Meet The Fraggles DVD to review. There are 6 episodes with this fun DVD:

-Beginnings
-We Love Your Wembley
-Boober's Dream
-Red's Club
-Mokey and the Minstrels
-Gobo's Discovery

My husband and Tobin immediately popped the DVD in once it arrived. Tobin wasn't too excited about it until he heard that his Daddy loved it, and then he was all for it! The theme song brought me back instantly and I found myself back in the underground with the Fraggles. I loved the DVD and was so glad I could share this fun show with my kids. It's a great DVD that the whole family will love! Even little Noah was dancing around to it! Fraggle Rock: 30th Anniversary Collection & Fraggle Rock: Meet The Fraggles - Arrives to DVD May 14 so be sure and check them out!

The Orb Factory Pulsar Powerballs Review

**I was sent the product featured below free of charge in exchange for my honest review. No other compensation was received.**

Tobin loves craft projects and I especially love when science is involved with the project. I discovered The Orb Factory last year and I loved the variety of projects and crafts they had available. So when I was asked if I would like to do another review, I was so excited! I had a hard time choosing but when I saw the Pulsar Powerballs™, I knew they were the perfect project for us.

With this fun kit you can create 5 Pulsar Powerballs™ that can bounce and soar to amazing heights. The kit comes with:

  • 1 large Pulsar Powerballs™ mold
  • 1 small Pulsar Powerballs™ mold
  • 2 Pulsar Powerballs™ lights
  • 8 bags of colorful crystals
  • 3 resealable storage bags
  • Illustrated instructions

Tobin was so excited when the kit arrived and he wanted to make them right away. Unfortunately it came on a day that had been really busy and I was exhausted. Once I saw everything that came with it, I was overwhelmed at first and suggested we do it the next day. Tobin persisted and once I actually looked at the instructions, I was surprised at how easy it was to make! The instructions are very clear and include illustrations and they are so easy to make. There are 2 Pulsar Powerballs™ lights so we decided to make a light Pulsar Powerballs™ first. You put the light in the mold and then pour whatever crystals you want in it.

Once your mold is filled, you submerge it in water for one minute.

Then you remove it and let it set for 3 minutes. Then you remove it from the mold and let it dry.

Once the Pulsar Powerballs™ are completely dry, you can bounce them and boy do they bounce! We especially love the ones that light up! I was so impressed at how easy the balls were to make. We were able to make 2 large Pulsar Powerballs™ and 4 little ones (the last one was just using all the leftover crystals and what we had spilled all over).

They come with resealable storage bags so you can store them in there when the balls are not in use. Tobin has shown a lot of people his Pulsar Powerballs™ and everyone has been so impressed that he made them. Tobin did a lot of it on his own and he is very proud of himself for making them. I would definitely recommend the Pulsar Powerballs™, they are a great activity and a fun science project.

Learning Resources Smart Snacks® Shape Sorting Cupcakes Review & Giveaway

**I was sent the toy featured below from Learning Resources free of charge in order to do an honest an review. My thoughts are 100% my own.**
Tobin is going into Kindergarten this Fall. I can't believe it! He only has 2 preschool days left and then it is summer break for him. I want him to continue learning this summer which is why I feel having educational toys is very important. Learning Resources has so many great educational toys and products that are not only great teaching  tools but are also a lot of fun!
I was thrilled when we were sent the Smart Snacks® Shape Sorting Cupcakes to review. It comes with a cupcake pan and 8 brightly colored cupcakes.
The cupcakes pull apart to reveal shapes and to put the cupcakes back together, you have to find the correct pieces of cupcakes (so the shapes that match). You can then match the shape to the bottom of the pan.

The featured shapes align with the Kindergarten Common Core Math Standards which are circle, square, triangle, rectangle, oval, hexagon, star, and heart.

I love this cupcake set and so do my boys! It is tons of fun to play with and use for make-believe and it is also such a great learning tool. I use it to help my boys learn their colors and I love that it has a few colors outside of the primary colors. It's also a great way to help them learn and identify shapes. It also helps them with problem-solving and matching since they have to find the right pieces to put together to create the cupcakes and put them back in the pan.

The cupcakes pull apart and put back together easily. The cupcakes and pan are made of quality materials and are very sturdy. We have had so much fun playing with the Learning Resources Smart Snacks® Shape Sorting Cupcakes and for $17.99, this would make a great "treat" for your little ones (recommended for ages 2-6).

Be sure to stay connected and follow Learning Resources on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and YouTube

WIN IT: One LUCKY U.S. winner will receive their own Smart Snacks® Shape Sorting Cupcakes.

I am a member of SheSpeaks and I had the opportunity to try out some of P&G's "Most Loved" products. I was thrilled when I was a sent a box of P&G products to try out.

Gillette Venus & Olay Razor and Razor Refills - This great razor helps lock in moisture with the Olay Moisture Bars and gives you a close shave with the 5 blades. I love that you don't need to use shaving cream which is plus for me! The VanillaCrème scent is heavenly and I love it! The cartridges are very easy to change.

COVERGIRL Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner - I love this eyeliner! It gives me a precise line and glides on so easily. I love that I don't have to use a sharpener since it's got a specially designed self-sharpener inside so you always get the point - perfectly. There's a soft smudger tip if you want a softer look. I have never had such a great eyeliner before and I will definitely be sticking with this one from now on!

Dawn Hand Renewal with Olay Beauty Dishwashing Liquid - With this great dishwashing liquid you can get softer feeling hands after 3 uses. I love that while I wash my dishes my hands are actually getting softer! So not only do my dishes get clean, but I also get beautiful hands. That is a win-win to me!

Gillette Fusion ProSeries Irritation Defense Soothing Moisturizer - This moisturizer helps to reduce 5 signs of shaving irritation: nicks/cuts, burning, stinging, redness, and tightness. I had my husband try this out and so far he likes it. He says that it doesn't sting or burn and feels nice and cool when he puts it on. It works great for him and has helped a lot.

My Mortifying Day + a Few Lessons Everyone Should Learn from it!

So yesterday was ironic and mortifying for me...and is now funny but could have been a lot scarier. It started off as a normal day. I took Tobin to preschool, then headed off to the grocery store with Noah.

Noah was being a pill and after I was finished bagging and was trying to push my heavy cart with Noah trying to stand up, a couple of firefighters (who were bagging their groceries next to me and also finishing up) offered to push my cart out for me and put the groceries in my car. As we were walking to the car I found out that they are the fire department right by me. I joked that I would probably be calling them soon since Noah is such a turkey and has no fear. They laughed and one said he had a son just like that. Who knew I was foreshadowing?!

Grocery shopping took a lot longer than I had planned so by the time we had to go pick Tobin up, I still hadn't put all the groceries away. I didn't want to leave my dogs at home with all the groceries on the floor, so I took them with me which I have done a thousand times. At Tobin's preschool, there is a circle driveway that you pull up and the teacher's bring your child to your car. You then have to get out and put them in the car and buckle them up. So it was my turn and I got out and closed the door so the dogs wouldn't get out and ran around to the other side. As I went to open Tobin's door, the door wouldn't open. Horrified I realized that Penny had LOCKED the door! Our lock button is on the arm rest and she had jumped up on it. My car is black, it was a very warm day, and Noah was locked inside the car!!!

Fortunately, the car was on and the A/C was on and Noah was sound asleep. One of the teachers suggested that they drive me home so I could get a spare key. Unfortunately, we don't have a spare key...so that was not an option. Since there was a child in the car, one of the teachers called the police (since I of course had my phone locked in the car). As I was waiting for them to arrive, I told one of the teachers how ironic it was that I had just seen the firefighters earlier and I hoped it wouldn't be them that arrived. Just as I said that, I saw a fire engine turn the corner. As they neared, I could see one of the firefighters doubled over with laughter. It was the same ones who had helped me earlier!!!

The firefighters were great and teased me about that if I really had wanted to see them again that I could have just called or shown up. They quickly got my car opened and Noah was still sleeping...he slept through the whole thing! I'm so grateful for all the help that I received and how kind everyone was. It was a mortifying day but could have been a lot scarier if my car and A/C had not been on.

So from my mortifying day, here are some important lessons everyone should learn:

#1: First of all you should never leave a child in the car, but I know there are instances like mine where you are right there and just getting out for a second. Take the keys out!!! If it is a very hot day, roll down the windows first.

#2: If you have an animal with you....take extra precaution because you never know when they could do something like mine did and lock the car or something! If your animal is very heavy, they could put the car in drive or something. So always take the key out of the ignition.

#3: Always have a spare key (or several) and have them put in special places and maybe even give to a few people you trust (like a parent or sibling). That way you could always call someone to bring you a key if needed.

Has something like this ever happened to you? What has been your most mortifying moment as a parent? If you have had a moment like this, I would love to hear it...it would make me feel a lot better! LOL!

Square One Kids: Easy Playhouse Review & Giveaway

**I received the product featured below free of charge in order to do an honest review. My thoughts are 100% my own.**

In just a few short weeks, Tobin will be out of school. Now that he is older, I am constantly hearing the dreaded phrase "I'm bored! What can I do?". I was not looking forward to it, but then I found out about a great company called Square One Kids.

With Square One Kids, boredom is not an option. Instead your child's imagination can come to life with their amazing eco-friendly, reversible playhouses, castles, and "cities" made from recycled materials. Not only does your child have something fun to play with, but they can also let their creativity come out and play by coloring their houses.
I was so excited when we were sent the Castle Playhouse to review. It arrived very quickly and was packaged great so it didn't get bent or anything.  It comes in 2 pieces that can be assembled in 5 minutes or less.
The instructions were very clear and precise (I love that) and it was so easy to put together. I was surprised at how big it really was! It measures 32" x 32" x 43.5"! It has 2 doors, 4 large windows, 4 turrets, and 8 small windows. My boys immediately started playing with it and seeing their smiles and giggles would have been worth every penny if I had actually purchased it. They have had so much fun with it!

We were planning to spray paint the whole thing silver and then Tobin was going to add on decorations with stickers and markers. Unfortunately I didn't realize I would need to buy a lot more spray paint than just one can and of course the can I bought happened to be broken. So we only got a little bit spray painted and one day will finish painting it. For now, Tobin has had fun coloring it and I like that he can continue to color and add to it so the fun can go on.

My only advice would be to figure out where you are going to keep the house/castle because we first had it set up in the basement but then moved it outside to paint and then back inside. It got a little beat up by doing that and is not quite as sturdy as it was. I added some tape and that has helped though, but next time I will definitely make sure to not set it up until I am ready to keep it wherever I put it...or at least have someone else help me maneuver it from place to place!

Overall, would I recommend it? Absolutely! It has entertained both my boys (ages 1 and almost 5) every day for hours! I already have some fun ideas for the summer such as dressing up as kings and queens and having a tea party in the castle and lots of fun make-believe! Thanks to Square One Kids, we will not be bored this summer and if you want to add some imagination and creativity to your kid's life, be sure you check out the Easy Playhouse!

GIVEAWAY: One LUCKY U.S. winner will receive their own Square One Kids Playhouse.

Just fill out the Rafflecopter Form Below! Don't see it? Just give it a second to load or click the READ MORE link.. If you have any problems or don't know how to fill out the form, feel free to email me with any questions.
