The Christian Mama’s Guide to Having a Baby Book Review & Giveaway **CLOSED**

The Christian Mama's Guide to Having a Baby: Everything You Need to Know to Survive (and Love) Your Pregnancy
by Erin MacPherson

About the Book
Filled with helpful tips, amusing anecdotes, and encouraging advice, here's one Christian mama's take on everything pregnancy -- from stretch marks to weight gain to figuring out how to rely on Christ through all of the uncertainty and joy of the next nine months. Pregnant women may discover that while they are thrilled about the baby, pregnancy can be another thing entirely. Instead of glowing they're glistening. There's morning sickness. And suddenly a favorite pair of jeans no longer fits. Erin MacPherson has created a comprehensive guide that's packed with information that every newly pregnant Christian mama needs including exercising while pregnant, a detailed guide to each trimester (including sleep, doctor check-ups, pregnancy sex), how to use your Bible as your pregnancy resource, and how to use this time of waiting to really draw closer to God through prayer. Filled with helpful tips (how do you quell that not-just-in-the-morning sickness?), humorous accounts (doesn't everyone crave peanut-butter-and-olive sandwiches?), and supportive spiritual advice (what does a godly pregnancy attitude actually look like anyway?). The Christian Mama's Guide to Having a Baby has the advice a mama-to-be wants to hear. Erin MacPherson assures, 'at the end of nine months, you really will be glowing.'

My Review
When I was pregnant, I was addicted to reading anything that had to do with pregnancy. I ended up with several favorites, but they were mostly medical types of books. Now, The Christian Mama’s Guide to Having a Baby has become one of my absolute favorite pregnancy books! This book is not a medical type of book and if you are looking for answers like what does that cramp mean and things like that, this is not the book to find the answer. Instead, this book is like having your best friend tell you everything you need to know about your 9 months of pregnancy and do it in only a way your best girl friend could do it.

The author is hilarious and I love how with every situation she tells you about her experiences and often times she was making fun of herself. I laughed through out the book and I found myself really wishing I had this book when I was pregnant. No one told me that pregnancy cravings could turn into pregnancy aversions very quickly so to never shop in bulk. Until I read this, I seriously thought that while I was pregnant, Costco was what my baby hated. Anytime I bought anything from Costco I always ended up despising it days later. So it would have been very helpful to know that your cravings can change very quickly!

Erin walks you through your doctor visits in great detail which I loved and I cracked up when she talked about Senor Scale! She tells you all the nitty gritty that your friends and family (at least mine didn't) don't usually tell you. Like exactly what the glucose tolerance test liquid tastes like and what you should and shouldn't do when you have to take it. She tells you all about the aftermath of having a baby and what to expect. She also talks about pregnancy sex, which no one ever seems to talk about and she did it very tactfully. Erin gives a lot of great tips and advice to help you to survive and love your pregnancy.

It is a Christian book and God is talked about throughout the book, but I didn't find it overly religious and I think even someone who isn't really religious would enjoy this book as well. This book is geared towards first time pregnancies, but I think it's great for any pregnant woman. This is one of my favorite pregnancy books now and I will definitely be reading and taking a lot of advice from this book when I finally get pregnant again. So be sure to check out The Christian Mama's Guide to Having a Baby: Everything You Need to Know to Survive (and Love) Your Pregnancy, it would make a great Mother's Day gift for any soon-to-be Mama!

I want to win because the only book I have on pregnancy (in my 16th week!) is in Spanish, and I'd really like an English book that will tell me all I need to learn about pregnancy and birth, especially since both my mother and my mother-in-law both live thousands of miles away. I need this book! Please?!?!

Sounds like something my daughter would enjoy and use, it is good for her to hear from others that is is okay to laugh and cry, like and dislike in a very short time frame.
