So I am trying to buy the last few things I need for Noah before he is born. Since I am having another boy, I don't need too much but there were a few things I definitely wanted that I didn't have with Tobin. One of those things is a diaper pail or diaper system. I had bought two over the course of a year with Tobin, but I had bought cheap ones and they were horrible and I ended up throwing them out. So now I am willing to spend the money on a nicer one, as long as it's a good one.
The number one thing I want is that it KEEPS the odor from getting into the room. Tobin's were so smelly that it seemed pointless to have them. I don't care if I need to buy special liners as long as they are easy to find, although I would prefer being able to just use regular garbage bags, but it's not a must.
So all you Moms, please give me some advice! If you have a diaper pail/diaper system that you use for disposable diapers that you just love and have been using for awhile, PLEASE comment below and tell me what kind you use. Thank you!!!!

I have a diaper genie elite and have been really pleased with it. I can tell if the lid doesn't shut since the smells will get out, but when it is closed you can't smell a thing.
The only thing I don't care for are the bags for it. They are pretty pricey, but thankfully I only change them every 2 wks or so. The first year or so one would last at least a month.
I recommend the Munchkin Arm & Hammer Diaper Pail, but I hear that the Ubbi diaper pail is really good, too. You can check it out at http://ubbiworld.com/
I wish I had a good recommendation for you but I use the Diaper Genie Elite and I feel like it still stinks, if you open the lid to throw the diaper in the whole room stinks for hours so I'll be watching the post for good ideas as well! :)
When Karina was first born, we used disposables on her til her belly button fell off, and then we switched to cloth. But while we were using the disposables, I had a Diaper Champ. It had this plunger thing that pushed the diaper down (and didn't work well with cloth, so now I just use a bag and I don't have any trouble with smells). I would recommend that if the diaper is poopy, try to tip the poop into the toilet and flush it. This will cut down on the smell somewhat. I hope you can find a good system. I think it's hard to eliminate all the smell. Even now with the cloth, we have a slight smell if I open the bag or if I leave it open.
Oooh, I'm so glad you asked. I had a diaper genie for all of 2 weeks and hated every minute of it. It doesn't contain smell the contraption doesn't work and you have to buy special bags.
I really LOVED the Diaper Genie and since we have a Costco membership, we'd buy the kirkland brand kitchen trash bags for our kitchen and the diaper genie. It saved us a ton of money and contained the smell very well. I also added a touch of my own, with using Arm & Hammer fridge disc with suction cup inside the genie and it helped contain the smell.
Good luck!
