Learning Resources Farmer's Market Color Sorting Set Review & Giveaway

As you all know, Learning Resources is one of my favorite places to shop for educational toys. Tobin has loved everything we have ever received from them and I love that they have a variety of new products for 2012. Since Tobin is learning about colors and sorting, I was excited when we were sent the Farmer's Market Color Sorting Set to review.

The Farmer's Market Color Sorting Set comes with 5 baskets, stickers for labeling the baskets, 25 foods (5 of each color) and an activity guide so you can get the most out of the play set. I was very impressed with the size of the baskets and fruits and vegetables. The baskets were big enough to hold 5 fruits and vegetables and the fruits and vegetables were pretty realistic sizes.

This set is perfect for looking colors and how to sort since you can play it so your child has to place the correct fruits and vegetables in the correct colored basket. It also helps your child's vocabulary and introduces them to all kinds of fruits and vegetables. After playing with this, Tobin has actually requested to try some of the new fruits and vegetables he was introduced to which makes me so happy! Tobin loves to sort the colors into the correct baskets and he's really good at it too. You can also try having your child sort the food by fruits and vegetables, sizes, and what they like and don't like. It's a great way to teach sorting. Since the foods are not all the exact same shade of colors, Tobin has been learning that there are different shades to each color. So even though the green apple is more of a light green color, it's still considered green. So this fun set has taught Tobin a lot more than just basic colors.

Besides learning colors, sorting, and nutrition; this set is also perfect for dramatic play. Tobin loves to play market with this set and we play it almost daily. He loves to buy the fruits and vegetables and then sort them into the correct baskets as he is "paying" for them at the "register". It's a lot of fun and keeps him entertained for hours.
